A total number of 29 IPS officers have been deployed as West Bengal is stepping up security for peaceful Ram Navami Ccelebration in the state.
In anticipation of Ram Navami celebrations on April 6, the West Bengal government has intensified security measures by deploying 29 IPS officers across several sensitive regions. Key areas receiving additional security coverage include Howrah, Barrackpore, Siliguri, Chandannagar, Islampur, Malda, and Cooch Behar.
To bolster safety efforts, the deployment also includes additional police personnel, quick response teams, and surveillance units at critical points to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged all communities to celebrate the festival peacefully and remain vigilant against misinformation. “In West Bengal, we follow the teachings of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda—not the ‘Jumla party’,” she stated, calling for unity and restraint.
As part of the heightened security protocol, the West Bengal Police has cancelled all leaves between April 2 and April 9, barring exceptional emergencies. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Biswajit Mahato emphasized the importance of increased patrolling in sensitive zones to maintain public confidence and ensure a smooth, incident-free celebration.
