Former Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has been appointed as State Chief Information Commissioner.

Retired IAS officer of the 1988 batch, Ms. Radha Raturi, has been appointed as the State Chief Information Commissioner by the Governor of Uttarakhand. She will serve in this constitutional role for a period of three years or until she attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier.

Ms. Raturi, who made history as Uttarakhand’s first woman Chief Secretary, retired from the post on March 31, 2025, handing over the charge to her successor, Mr. Anand Vardhan, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre. Prior to her appointment as Chief Secretary on January 31, 2024—succeeding Mr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (1988 batch)—she served as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister. Initially set to retire two months after assuming the top post, her tenure was extended by six months, allowing her to serve until the end of March 2025.

Her appointment as the State Chief Information Commissioner is considered a notable development, not only due to her long-standing contribution to public service but also because the role comes with several lifetime privileges for the incumbent.
