District Magistrate of Dehradun, Savin Bansal (IAS, 2009 batch), has once again demonstrated his firm stance against land mafias in the region.
In a recent public hearing, Bansal emphasized that both the Revenue Department and Police must be held accountable for effectively addressing land and property disputes, calling for swift and strict action in all such cases.
The hearing, held on Monday, witnessed the resolution of 174 complaints, with many cases addressed immediately. Bansal reaffirmed his commitment to protecting citizens’ property rights and ensuring justice for the victims of illegal land occupation.
Among the key cases presented:

Pushpa Devi from Nathanpur reported being assaulted after her ancestral property was unlawfully occupied. DM Bansal reviewed existing reports and directed the Tehsildar and Nehru Colony Police Station Head to take immediate steps to restore her possession.

Satpal Singh from Doiwala alleged that his land had been encroached upon by land mafias, even as his case remained pending in the ACGM Court. The DM instructed the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority to expedite legal proceedings in the matter.
The hearing, which lasted four hours, was attended by key officials including Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Superintendent of Police Mukesh Thakur, and others.

A woman from Jhajra, facing threats and non-payment of rent from a tenant, was assured legal support. The DM ordered a formal letter to be sent to the District Legal Services Authority for immediate redressal.

In a compassionate move, Bansal arranged financial aid under the Nanda Sunanda Yojana for a financially struggling mother seeking support for her daughter’s MCA education.
