UP’s 2023 batch Trainee IAS officers have visited NACIN Lucknow for insights into CGST & Customs Department.
As part of their training and exposure to key government departments, 19 trainee IAS officers from the 2023 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre visited the Lucknow zonal campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) on Wednesday. The visit aimed to familiarize them with the operations of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Customs departments.
During the visit, Neha Lal, Additional Director of NACIN Lucknow, provided an introductory briefing, emphasizing the academy’s role in training and capacity-building for India’s revenue services. The session was designed to enhance the officers’ understanding of the department’s functions and significance.
VP Shukla, Principal Additional Director General (Pr ADG) of NACIN Lucknow, interacted with the trainees, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He stressed the crucial role civil servants will play in achieving this goal and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The training also included a presentation by NK Das, Assistant Director at NACIN Lucknow, who detailed the workings of the Customs, Central Excise, and GST departments. His session provided practical insights into the responsibilities and challenges in these areas, including narcotics control.
The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of NACIN’s commitment to shaping well-equipped civil servants capable of handling the evolving demands of governance. Officials noted that such training programs serve as a strong foundation for the officers, helping them better understand the role of revenue departments in public administration.
