The Election Commission has transferred two top cops along with one DC in the state of Punjab.
In a new directive by the election commission , two IPS officers along with one DC has been transferred in Punjab. Other than the IPS Vishesh Sarangal, DC Jalandhar, DIG Border Range Narinder Bhargav and ADGP Ropar Range Jaskaran Singh have been transferred as well. Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the ECI has transferred the three top officers in Punjab.
According to the order released on Tuesday, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner IPS Vishesh Sarangal has been removed by the ECI, following a complaint that he was posted in his home district. Subsequently DIG Border Range Narinder Bhargav and ADGP Ropar Range Jaskaran Singh also have been shifted.
Let it be noted that the provisions of the model code of conduct does not allow an officer to serve in his/her home district. After the removal of the officers, the state government requested for the permission to retain the two tow top cops on their current posts, but the ECI turned down the plea.
