The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das is to retire at the end of the year.
The 25th Governor or RBI is scheduled to be retired in December this year. As per the speculations TV Somanathan may replace him upon his retirement.
TV Somanathan is currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He was entrusted the responsibility as the Governor, RBI in December 2018 f0r three years.
Year 1980 batch IAS, Das was re-appointed with the same responsibility again in December 2021 for three more years. He originally hails from Tamil Nadu cadre.
