Sujata Saunik: Historic Appointment as Maharashtra’s First Female Chief Secy

As a historic appointment, IAS Sujata Saunik has become Maharashtra’s First Female Chief Secretary.

Standing tall as a significant milestone for gender representation in the bureaucracy of the state of Maharashtra, IAS officer Sujata Saunik has been designated as the state’s first female Chief Secretary.

A year 1987 batch senior bureaucrat Sujata Saunik has assumed office on June 30 2024, replacing IAS Nitin Kareer upon his retirement. Following a distinguished career, she is set to retire in June 2025.
