Lucknow: After the Karnataka polls, the BJP will face another major battles in Kairana and Noorpur where bypolls for Lok Sabha and assembly seats on May 28 are likely to witness the Samajwadi Janata Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) fielding a joint candidate against the saffron party candidate.
This development took place when RLD vice president Jayant Chaudhary landed in Uttar Pradesh’s capital to meet SP’s national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday.
As per RLD spokesperson Anil Dubey, both the parties will contest the forthcoming bypolls together. He hinted that the SP and the RLD will also fight the 2019 general elections together.
It is learnt that SP national chief Akhilesh Yadav might announce the candidate for Kairana and Noorpur bypolls in a day or two. The SP was the runner-up in Kairana in the 2014 parliamentary elections. The Congress has also voiced its support for a joint opposition candidate for Kairana and Noorpur bypolls.
The Bahujan Samaj Party has already made it clear that in accordance with the party’s long-held stand, no candidate will be fielded for byelection for both Lok Sabha and assembly seats.
