Bhopal Gas Tragedy Case witnesses six key Government officials charged with Contempt by the High Court.
Member of Parliament Mohammad Suleman, Additional Chief Secretary for Health and Gas Relief, along with 2 other officers from the National Informatics Centre had previously convicted by the MP High court.
This time former state chief secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, two Union government secretaries, and three other senior officials have been charged by the Cour. They have been charged with contempt for failing to comply with court orders. The Court’s order was towards medical care for victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy.
In the charge sheet, the officers have accused of showing “insensitivity towards gas victims”.
Apart from Bains, names of the officers charged include Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Senior Deputy Director R Rama Krishnan of the Indian Council for Medical Research, Union Chemical and Fertilisers Secretary Arti Ahuja, Prabha Desikan, former director, BMHRC, along with Doctor Rajnarayan Tiwari, Director, NIREH.
