Senior IAS Officer Dr. TK Sreedevi has becomes aictim of impersonation Scam, now the Cyber Crime Wing has started its investigation.
Dr. TK Sreedevi, a senior IAS officer from the 2004 batch and the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) in Telangana, has fallen victim to an impersonation scam. Fraudsters used her photo as a WhatsApp profile picture to deceive people into transferring money under false pretenses.
The scam was uncovered when officials in the CDMA office received multiple screenshots of dubious WhatsApp messages being circulated to various contacts. The messages, falsely appearing to be from Dr. Sreedevi, solicited financial assistance for fabricated reasons.
Upon receiving a formal complaint from P. Sridhar, Joint Director at the CDMA office, Hyderabad Police’s Cyber Crime Wing registered a case. The complaint described the fraudulent use of Dr. Sreedevi’s image to impersonate her and mislead individuals into making monetary transfers.
Dr. Sreedevi’s office provided screenshots and other evidence of the fraudulent messages to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Wing, in Basheerbagh. Authorities have been urged to take prompt action to trace the WhatsApp number used in the scam (+94723718460), identify the culprits, and proceed with legal action.
Cyber Crime officials have launched an investigation and are analyzing digital evidence to track down those responsible. They have also advised the public to remain vigilant against such scams and report any suspicious activities without delay.
