Aligarh:  Normal life was hit in Aligarh on Friday after Section 144 was imposed following the controversy over a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The internet services have been suspended till  Saturday to avoid circulation of communal messages on social media. Rapid Action Force has been deployed outside the campus.

As many as  28 people were injured on Thursday when the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse a mob belonging largely to right-wing organisation, Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) who barged into the campus to remove the portrait.

“We will go to the National Human Rights’ Commission and file a petition in the Allahabad High Court,” said AMUSU vice-president Sajad Subhan.
