Restrictions imposed in Kashmir to prevent separatists-led protests

Srinagar: Restrictions were imposed on Sunday to maintain law and order in parts of Kashmir to prevent protests called by the separatists, police said.

Section 144 of CrPc has been imposed in the police station areas of Nowhatta, Rainawari, Safakadal, MR Gunj and Khanyar and partial restrictions were imposed in the Maisuma and Kralkhud areas.

The shutdown was called to protest against the killing of three terrorists and death of a civilian in the Chhatabal area.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, had called for complete shutdown against the killings.

Shops, public transport and other business establishments remained closed. Mobile internet services were suspended.
