REC Ltd: itendra Srivastava Takes Charge as CMD

IAS Officer Jitendra Srivastava has taken charge as CMD of REC Limited – here is a closer look at his profile.

IAS officer Jitendra Srivastava (2000 batch, Bihar cadre) has officially assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on April 18, 2025. He will serve in the rank and pay scale of an Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

Prior to this role, Mr. Srivastava was serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, a position he held since January 2023. In the Government of Bihar, he has served in several senior roles, including as Secretary of the Home Department and Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

With a career spanning over two decades, Mr. Srivastava brings rich administrative acumen and extensive cross-sectoral experience. His areas of expertise encompass finance, power, education, infrastructure, and public health, making him well-equipped to guide REC Limited in advancing India’s dynamic energy infrastructure agenda.

An alumnus of Hansraj College, University of Delhi, Mr. Srivastava holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Cochin University of Science and Technology.
