Rajasthan Police marks 76th Raising Day with key welfare initiatives.

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma honors fallen heroes, announces major benefits for police personnel

The Rajasthan Police celebrated its 76th Raising Day on Wednesday with a grand state-level ceremony at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) in Jaipur. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest, paying floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial to honor the brave police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He also reviewed the ceremonial parade and took the salute.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister announced several welfare measures aimed at boosting the morale and well-being of police personnel:

Uniform allowance for constables to assistant sub-inspectors has been increased from ₹7,000 to ₹8,000.

Mess allowance for officers up to the rank of police inspector has been raised from ₹2,400 to ₹2,700.

Free travel for police personnel in Rajasthan Roadways’ express and semi-deluxe buses.

Creation of a ₹200 crore Police Modernisation and Infrastructure Fund to enhance policing efficiency and infrastructure.

A 10% increase in honorarium for Languria staff serving in the Police and Prison Departments.

As part of the celebrations, the Chief Minister was also scheduled to confer Police Medals to officers and personnel in recognition of their exemplary service. A blood donation camp was organized at the RPA, and the day was set to conclude with a musical performance by the police band at Jawahar Circle.

Rajasthan Police Raising Day is observed every year on April 16, commemorating the department’s journey since its inception. While the foundation of the Rajasthan Police was laid on April 7, 1949—with R. Banerjee appointed as the first Inspector General who drafted a unified police code—the formal establishment of the force took place in January 1951.

The day serves as a solemn reminder of the dedication, courage, and sacrifices of the Rajasthan Police and reinforces its enduring commitment to public safety and service.
