New Delhi: To counter the BJP’s April 12 plan to organize protest over the impasse in Parliament, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday sat on day-long fast at Rajghat in protest against the Narendra Modi-led government’s failure to hold discussion in Parliament over the Dalit issue, PNB scam, CBSE paper leak and others.
Speaking to the printlines.com, a senior Congress leader said, “through this move we want to highlight the failure of the Centre to hold discussion in parliament on issues like PNB scam, Cauvery issue, special category status to Andhra Pradesh, the CBSE paper leak.
On April 6, the Congress had announced that its leaders and workers would go on a fast after BJP said its MPs would fast on April 12 to protest the impasse in Parliament.
The grand old party had also said that the government was responsible for not letting Parliament function and termed as a “gimmick” the announcement that NDA MPs would forgo their salary for 23 days when Parliament did not function.
