Bengaluru: On the last day of campaigning for the May 12 Karnataka assembly elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday targeted Narendra Modi, saying the Prime Minister sees a “threat in me.”
The Congress president referred to the Prime Minister’s yesterday attack on him in which Modi had made fun of his prime ministerial ambitions.
In an interaction programme at Bengaluru yesterday, Rahul Gandhi had expressed his desire to become the prime minister if the Congress or a coalition led by the party wins next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
“That depends on how the Congress performs…if it emerges as the biggest party-yes,” Rahul Gandhi had said.
But Prime Minister in his usual no holds barred approach towards the opposition leaders, questioned Rahul Gandhi for nursing prime ministerial ambition. “How can someone just declare himself as the PM? This is simply nothing but arrogance. Will India accept someone immature like this,” he asked.
Rahul said, “I have learnt to deal with the Prime Minister. When he can’t respond, he distracts.”
“Modi has anger inside… he has anger for everybody, not just me… and sees a threat in me,” the Congress president said, adding the Congress will win the assembly polls in the state. He said the opposition restricted itself to making personal attacks during the campaign.
