In the state of Punjab several IAS, IPS, and PCS officers are awaiting new assignments.
In Punjab, multiple IAS, IPS, and PCS officers are currently awaiting new postings following their recent transfers. At least four IAS officers, one PCS officer, and two IPS officers remain without assignments as they await government orders.
Mr. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, a 2001-batch IAS officer, was removed from his position as the state’s Home Secretary on March 24. He has not been assigned new responsibilities and has been instructed to report to the Personnel Department Secretary. This marks the second instance within ten days where an IAS officer has been relieved of all duties. Previously, he managed mines and geology, served as commissioner of food and drug administration, and oversaw gurdwara elections, but all these roles have now been withdrawn.
Similarly, Mr. K.K. Yadav (IAS, 2003 batch) was removed as Administrative Secretary of the Education Department on March 2, with Ms. Anindita Mitra taking over his position. He has remained without a posting since.
Mr. Puneet Goyal (IAS, 2010 batch) was relieved of his duties as Director of Food on February 25 and has yet to receive a new assignment.
Mr. Jitender Jorwal (IAS, 2014 batch) was transferred from his role as Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana on March 19, with Mr. Himanshu Jain stepping in as his replacement. Jorwal has not yet been reassigned.
Among PCS officers, Mr. Daman Mann, former Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Mohali, was transferred in October last year and has since remained without a posting.
In the IPS cadre, Mr. Varinder Kumar (IPS, 1993 batch) was removed as Punjab’s Vigilance Chief on February 17 and is still awaiting reassignment. His successor, Mr. G. Nageswara Rao (IPS, 1995 batch), was later transferred as well, but Kumar has yet to receive a new posting.
