In a key administrative move, the Punjab government has appointed ADGP Praveen Kumar (P.K.) Sinha as the new head of the state police’s intelligence department. The decision was officially announced on Monday, signaling a significant leadership shift within the department.
A 1994-batch IPS officer, Sinha currently serves as ADGP-NRI Affairs, a role he will continue to hold alongside his new responsibilities in the Intelligence Wing.
He replaces ADGP R.K. Jaiswal, who was appointed to the post in November 2023. Jaiswal’s next assignment is expected to be announced soon, according to government sources.
This leadership reshuffle is part of the state’s broader strategy to strengthen intelligence operations and enhance the overall law enforcement framework. Known for his extensive experience in the police service, P.K. Sinha is expected to bring a strategic and efficient approach to the functioning of the intelligence unit.
