New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most followed international leader on Facebook, said a study group in its report published on Wednesday.
Modi has 43.2 million followers on Facebook which is nearly twice the 23.1 million who follow Donald Trump, the US President who dominates Twitter, said Burson Martsteller, a global public relations and communications firm which is headquartered in New York City.
The study put Queen Rania of Jordan in third place. She has 16 million Facebook followers.
However, the study which analysed the activity of 650 personal and institutional Facebook pages of heads of state and government and foreign ministers since January 1, 2017, showed that US President Trump counted most interactions on the platform.
It also found that Trump on average posts five times a day on Facebook, which is more than double the number of posts from the Indian Prime Minister.
The study which has given a peep into the Asians’ habit said Facebook tends to be more widely used in Asia than Twitter which may also account for the large number of followers for Asian leaders.
Interestingly, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen shot into the fifth position after his following swelled nearly 50 percent to 9.6 million.
