Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in the first mass programme of its kind, interact live with the students across the country on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Human Resources & Development was also seen in the programme and also addresses the students and teachers at Manekshaw Auditorium, New Delhi. The programme has started by a student from civil lines school who talked on Dr. Radhakrishnan Sarvapalli, then student gets blessing from the PM. PM addresses his speech to students of 18 lakhs government and private school said” India is a youthful nation. Can’t we think of exporting good teachers? Why can’t our children think I want to be a good teacher, Dr Radhakrishnan did not celebrate his own birthday. Many interesting questions were also asked by students across the country to Prime Minister, a student from Delhi asked – Is politics difficult? How do you handle stress so well? PM replies – I believe that politics is not a profession. It is a service. And so there is no stress. The people of India are my family. Their happiness is my happiness and their sorrows are my sorrows. I want to keep working more.
A student asks the PM – You ask people to save electricity. What do you expect from us and what can we do? PM replies – It’s expensive to make electricity, easy to save electricity. Modi then gives suggestions to save electricity, like use of energy-saving bulbs, tube lights etc. We need to all come together as a nation together make the effort.
Many students had asked about girl child education system and about the steps that new government is taking to improve it Such similar question was asked by student of Delhi – Can you tell us about what further steps you will take on girl child education? PM replies – Schools need to be close to the home to promote girls’ education. Quality is also important. PM also stresses on the importance of technology in spreading education.
The key points on which Prime Minister emphasize more is cleanliness, girl child education, saving electricity, planting trees etc. and conclude the speech by saying “take inspiration from the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan”.
