Jammu: The Pakistan Army on Tuesday has once again opened fire and unprovoked mortar shelling along the International Border. A 70-year-old woman suffered injuries in the firing.
The ceasefire violation in Jammu and Samba district has affected at least 30 BSF outposts and two dozen villages, the police said adding that the Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively.
The closure of educational institutions in the border areas have been asked by the administration as a precautionary measure.
Madan Lal Bhagat, a resident of village near Arnia, was hit by splinters in the abdomen and foot after a mortar shell hit his house in the early hours of Monday, the officials said.
An eight-month-old child was killed when he was hit by a stray bullet during ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Keri Battal area of Akhnoor near LOC.
In their continuous firing, atleast six people, including a policeman, a woman and four others were injured in the Pakistani shelling in Arnia sector on Monday.
The violation came after two days when on Sunday the Pakistan Army called up the BSF unit in Jammu and requested for a ceasefire.
