New Delhi: A notice for the impeachment of the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra in Rajya Sabha has been submitted to vice president Venkaiah Naidu by the Congress leaders on Friday.
This move has been taken by opposition parties following the dismissal of their demand for an investigation into the death of CBI judge BH Loya by the Supreme Court.
Leaders of all the parties participated in the meeting. After the discussion it was decided to hand over the notice to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
60 MPs of 7 parties have signed the notice for the impeachment. The parties signing the notice include Congress, NCP, CPM, CPI, SP, BSP and Muslim league.
The idea was proposed when in January, four-top level Supreme Court judges made complaints against Dipak Misra and said “India’s democracy is at stake”.
On Thursday, Congress called it a “sad letter day in India’s history”, expressing disappointment with the judgment in the Loya’s case.
