Orissa High Court has rejected plea of anticipatory bail to IAS officer Manish Agrawal in Stenographer suicide case.
In a significant development, the Orissa High Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to Manish Agrawal, a senior IAS officer from the 2012 batch and former District Collector of Malkangiri, in connection with the alleged suicide of his stenographer, Deba Narayan Panda.
The court also dismissed the bail applications of co-accused Prakash Chandra Sway and V. Benu, further tightening the legal noose around the implicated officials.
In addition, the court directed Bhagban Panigrahi, another accused in the case, to surrender within three weeks, offering conditional bail owing to health-related concerns.
Initially investigated as a potential murder, the 2019 case has since been reclassified as a matter of abetment to suicide, drawing heightened attention to allegations of workplace harassment within government offices.
