Senior IPS officer Sadanand Date has taken over as the new NIA chief
Year 1990 batch IPS officer Sadanand Vasant Date hails originally from Maharashtra. Recently following an administrative order from the competent authority IPS Date has taken over reins of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
IPS Date succeeds Dinkar Gupta who is a year 1987 batch IPS officer who has recently superannuated on Sunday. Prior to joining the NIA, IPS Date was serving as the chief of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the state of Maharashtra.
Officer Date has served 2 tenures in the Government of India -and in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as Inspector General and in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as Deputy Inspector General.
