Former IAS Neeraj Kumar Gupta who has newly been appointed as Chairman & Public Interest Director of NSE International Exchange.

NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) has announced the appointment of former IAS officer Neeraj Kumar Gupta as its new Chairman and Public Interest Director (PID). His appointment, approved by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), took effect on April 1, 2025, with his formal joining on April 19, 2025.

A 1982-batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Mr. Gupta brings over three decades of rich experience in finance, governance, and public policy. He served as the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) under the Ministry of Finance until his retirement in 2018, and later as Central Information Commissioner of India until 2023.

A Legacy of Leadership in Economic Reforms

During his time at DIPAM, Mr. Gupta played a key role in spearheading the government’s major disinvestment and investment strategies, shaping capital market reforms, and contributing to three successive Union Budgets (2016–2018). He also chaired the National Task Force for Promotion of Digital & Cashless Economy, driving financial digitization initiatives.

His leadership extended to strategic collaborations with regulators such as SEBI and the RBI, where he worked to simplify market operations, promote ETF instruments, and strengthen India’s capital markets infrastructure.

Strengthening NSE IX’s Strategic Vision in GIFT City

The Board and Management of NSE IX welcomed Mr. Gupta’s appointment, emphasizing his deep insight into corporate governance and economic strategy. They believe his guidance will be pivotal in advancing the exchange’s goals within GIFT City, India’s ambitious international financial hub.

“His leadership will play a critical role in driving NSE IX’s global vision and fostering growth in India’s international financial services landscape,” the exchange stated.
