A coalition of Nagaland’s key state service associations—CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA—has expressed deep disappointment over the withdrawal of the March 10, 2025 Vacancy Circular. The Circular pertains to the induction of Non-SCS (Non-State Civil Service) officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
In a strongly worded joint statement, the associations criticized the state government’s decision to revoke the circular after the 15-day application window had closed, and without offering any transparent justification. They noted that formal objections had already been submitted, along with a reminder on April 4, 2025, emphasizing that the original process was both fair and merit-based.
The March 10 circular, they said, was well-received across departments for its emphasis on merit, particularly its requirement that IAS aspirants must have been recruited through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). However, its abrupt withdrawal on March 25, followed by a decision on March 27 to reissue the vacancy in line with Central Government guidelines, has triggered serious concerns among eligible candidates.
The Core Committee further stated that many deserving officers who had applied in good faith under the original notification now feel disillusioned, with their career hopes and trust in the system undermined.
The associations have collectively urged the government to reinstate the original circular and ensure that the selection process remains rooted in transparency, merit, and fairness.
