The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi gave away the National Awards to Anganwadi Workers for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16, at a function, in New Delhi on December 22, 2016. The Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ms. Leena Nair is also seen.

Ms Leena Nair has been assigned an additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs till May 5, 2017. She is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.
