Wuhan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who flew to China to have an “informal meeting” with President Xi Jinping on Friday offered to host him for the next informal summit in India next year.
In the course of delegation level meet in Wuhan, lying in China’s central region, Prime Minister offered this invitation and the Chinese President promptly accepted it.
“I’ll be happy, if in 2019, we can have such informal summit in India,”Modi was quoted by sources as telling Xi.
In response, the Chinese President also said that the two countries have established closer partnership and made positive progress in recent years.
“In the past five years, we have achieved a lot. We have met each other on many occasions,” President Jinping said.
Earlier in the day, Modi was given a warm welcome by the Chinese President on his arrival in Wuhan. If sources are to be believed, no agreement will be signed or joint statement issued during two- day visit of Prime Minister Modi.
