Gazipur: Increasing number of media persons and their associations are coming forward to express their anger against website pgurus for publishing misleading and fabricated story against senior journalist Upendra Rai.
On Friday, members of Gazipur district journalist’s association met the district magistrate and handed over a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On this occasion district journalist association’s president Surya Kumar Singh was also present. In their memorandum, mediapersons have asked for strict action against website pgurus and its promoter.
The controversial website published story against Upendra Rai with an aim to tarnish his image, the journalist’s association said in the memorandum. It also said that the incident shows that for the sake of sensationalism, the website publishes only misleading and false story.
“The website (pgurus) has deliberately violated ethics and principles of journalism. It is well known that those who land in journalism are made to follow certain guiding rules attached with the profession, and they include verifying facts and figures of a story, seeking his or her side of story before publishing it,“ the association said, adding that anti-Upendra Rai story smells of conspiracy hatched by corrupt bureaucrats and middlemen to defame the senior journalist who has spent years in exposing their misdeeds.
Journalist associations from Sultanpur, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Sitapur and Ambedkarnagar have also demanded strict action against the website.
