14 Police officers have been transferred in Manipur amid security challenges, where Priyadarshini Laishram has been posted as SP of Jiribam.
Imphal: In a bid to strengthen law enforcement and tackle rising security threats, the Manipur government has transferred 14 police officers, including the superintendents of police (SPs) of two key districts. The reshuffle comes as the state grapples with increasing ethnic tensions, insurgency, and extortion by militant groups.
The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued an official notification on Tuesday detailing the transfers, which are aimed at improving administrative efficiency and security deployment across the state.

Strategic Reshuffle Amid Security Concerns
The state has been witnessing frequent clashes between security forces and insurgents, prompting the government to reposition officers in sensitive areas. The reshuffling is seen as part of a broader strategy to enhance law enforcement efforts and stabilize the security situation.
Manipur continues to face challenges from militant groups that engage in extortion and targeted attacks on businesses and civilians. Law enforcement agencies are under pressure to curb these activities and restore public safety.
Crackdown on Militant Activities
In a related development, security forces recently apprehended three individuals, including a cadre of the banned PREPAK-Pro militant outfit, on extortion charges in Kakching and Imphal East districts. A PREPAK-Pro member was arrested on Tuesday from Aihang village in Kakching for allegedly extorting residents and businesses in the Wangoo Chairel and Pangaltabi areas.
As Manipur navigates these security challenges, the latest police transfers are expected to reinforce the state’s law enforcement framework and improve response mechanisms in vulnerable regions.
