Aurangabad: At least 40 shops were set on fire, while several properties and vehicles were vandalized on Saturday morning following clashes between two groups.
At least one person was killed and 40 others were injured in clashes between the groups in Gandhinagar area on Friday night.
The clash had broken out over a minor argument between the two groups. At least 10 policemen were injured, including three junior officers, media reports said.
The tense situation prompted authorities to impose Section 144 of CrPC in the trouble-hit area. The district administration has also suspended internet services.
The police reached the spot and used teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to control the situation
The tension, coupled with rumors resulted in stone pelting in the adjoining areas of Motikaranja, Raja Bazar, Shahgunj, Chelipura, Anguribagh.
