IPS Kamya Mishra has resigned and simultaneously the Union Ministry has also accepted her resignation. She has left a lasting impact on Bihar Police.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has officially accepted the resignation of IPS officer Kamya Mishra, as per a notification issued on March 27, 2025. Mishra, a 2019-batch officer, had initially submitted her resignation in August 2024, citing personal reasons.
Instead of an immediate acceptance, authorities granted her 180 days of leave in November 2024, allowing her time to reconsider her decision before finalizing the resignation.
A native of Odisha, Mishra had cleared the UPSC exam at the age of 22, securing an impressive all-India rank of 172. She was initially assigned to the Himachal Pradesh cadre before being transferred to Bihar, where she last served as the Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) in Darbhanga.
During her tenure, she played a key role in high-profile cases, including the investigation into the daylight murder of the father of former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani. Her departure marks the end of a promising career in the Indian Police Service, leaving a notable impact on law enforcement in Bihar.
Mishra’s husband, Avdhesh Saroj Dixit, is also a 2019-batch IPS officer from the Bihar cadre, making their presence in the police service significant. Her resignation leaves a gap in Bihar’s police administration, particularly given her contributions to public safety and crime investigations.
