Kerala: 15 IAS Officers in Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle; Sharmila Joseph Takes Over Women & Child Development

Kerala Government has transferred 15 IAS officers in major bureaucratic reshuffle whereas Sharmila Joseph takes over Women & Child Development.

In a major administrative reshuffle, the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala government has reassigned 15 senior IAS officers, implementing key changes across various departments to enhance governance efficiency and departmental coordination.

Dr. Sharmila Mary Joseph, currently serving as Principal Secretary of the Local Self-Government Department (LSGD), has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department. She will also hold additional charge of the Higher Education Department. Finance Secretary Keshavendra Kumar has been designated as the new Principal Secretary of the LSGD, succeeding Dr. Joseph.

Public Relations Secretary S Harikishore has been entrusted with several additional responsibilities. He will now oversee the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA), serve as the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty, and take charge as Director of the Loka Kerala Sabha.

Mir Mohammed Ali, currently the Director of the Industries and Commerce Department, has been appointed as Managing Director of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC). He will also serve as Special Secretary in the LSGD. Meanwhile, TV Anupama will continue as Special Secretary in the LSGD and will additionally oversee the Waste Management portfolio.

P Vishnuraj, Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, has been named as the new Director of Industries and Commerce. He will retain his current responsibilities as Director of Sports and Secretary of the Sports Council.

Additional appointments include:

  • Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Principal Director of the LSGD, will now serve as Special Secretary for both the Electronics & IT Department and the Environment Department, while also acting as Director of the Survey and Land Records Department.

  • Haritha V Kumar, Director of Women and Child Development, will also take on the role of Principal Director of the LSGD.

  • C Chitra has been posted as Additional Secretary in the Finance (Expenditure) Department.

  • V Sriram will continue as Managing Director of the Kerala Financial Corporation and will also serve as Director of the Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department.

  • Anie Jula Thomas, Officer on Special Duty in the Industries Department, has been given additional charge as Managing Director of KTDFC.

  • Sandeep Kumar, Director of the IT Mission, will now also lead the Remote Sensing and Environmental Center.

  • Sabin Hameed has been appointed as the Director of the Minority Welfare Department.

This comprehensive reshuffle underscores the state government’s intent to strengthen administrative leadership, improve inter-departmental coordination, and streamline the functioning of key sectors.
