New Delhi: Using his Facebook post, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday hit at Congress-led opposition parties for their petition to impeach Supreme Court Chief Justice Dipak Misra.
Jaitley said the petition is being used as a political tool to intimidate judges hearing controversial cases.
He said the Supreme Court’s dismissal of plea seeking probe into the death of special CBI judge B H Loya, exposed the conspiracy hatched by the opposition parties to generate falsehood as propaganda in the public and political space.
Both the BJP and the Congress are involved in a verbal dual against each other on the death of Justice B H Loya.
The Congress and six other like-minded parties on Friday petitioned Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Venkaiah Naidu on the proposed impeachment of CJI Deepak Misra.
On Thursday, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that the “invisible hand” behind the petition was that of Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
