IRS Promotions for Panel Year 2025: Strengthening Leadership in Customs & Indirect Taxes
The Government of India has promoted senior IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers Rajiv Kapoor and Sunil Kumar Mall to the rank of Chief Commissioner for the panel year 2025.
Rajiv Kapoor, a 1992-batch officer, has been promoted to the Chief Commissioner grade on a regular basis. His elevation places him at Level-16 (HAG+) of the Pay Matrix, marking a notable milestone in his career within the Customs and Indirect Taxes framework.
Sunil Kumar Mall, also from the 1992 batch, has been promoted to the Chief Commissioner grade on an ad-hoc basis. Along with his promotion, he has been appointed as the Chief Commissioner of the Ahmedabad GST & Central Excise Zone. His empanelment brings him to Level-16 (HAG+) of the Pay Matrix as well.
These appointments reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance leadership capacity within the Indian Revenue Service, particularly in departments overseeing critical functions such as customs administration and indirect taxation.
