Iran to unilaterally cancel visa requirements for Indian visitors

Iran has decided to unilaterally cancel visa requirements for visitors from India.

Lifting of visa requirements is done for visitors from 33 countries,  including India and Russia. This is considered as an attempt to boost tourism.

Informing about the lifting of the sanctions, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Ezzatollah Zarghami, says the Iranian cabinet unilaterally decided to opt for the cancellation of the visa requirements in a meeting on Wednesday.

One of the main countries benefiting from the measures include Russia, where citizens have been experiencing increase in difficulties while traveling abroad after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Out of the thirty three countries concerned comprise seventeen countries from Asia, six from Africa, five from Europe and five from Latin America, as informed by the Minister.

Among the Asian countries on the list apart from India, there are UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Brunei.

Among the European countries, apart from Russia, there are Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, as well as Belarus. In the list of the  Latin American countries, there are Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba,and Mexico.

Out of the listed African countries, Tunisia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mauritania, the Seychelles and Mauritius have been menti0ned.
