In-situ upgradation of three IAS officers to Spl Secy rank

The ACC has also approved in-situ upgradation of three IAS officers to the level of Special Secretary in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.

The upgradation as a measure personal to the chosen officers is in accordance with temporarily upgrading the posts held by them. Names among the three officers include Hari Ranjan Rao,  Rajesh Kumar Sinha and Ranjana Chopra.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the in-situ upgradation of the following officers to the level of Special Secretary in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, as a personal measure, by temporarily upgrading the posts they currently hold:

IAS officer Hari Ranjan Rao (MP:94), currently serving as Additional Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India. He will subsequently take over as Secretary, Department of Sports, following the superannuation of Ms. Sujata Chaturvedi, IAS (BH:89) on 30.06.2025.

On the other hand IAS officer Rajesh Kumar Sinha (KL:94), presently Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, has been elevated to Special Secretary in the same ministry.

Simultaneously, IAS Ranjana Chopra (OR:94) who at present serving as  Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Culture, has now been promoted as Special Secretary & Financial Advisor in the same ministry.
