IAS Laya Madduri has recently been posted as Director, Department of Economic Affairs, Delhi.
Laya Madduri, a 2010 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India. Before this central posting, she served as Secretary of the Finance Department in Assam, in addition to holding the position of Managing Director of the Assam Financial Corporation.
An alumna of BITS Pilani with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ms. Madduri also holds a Master’s in Public Policy from IGNOU. Her academic background, combined with her administrative acumen, has shaped a career marked by impactful leadership and a strong public service ethos.
Over the years, she has held several key roles in Assam, including Assistant Commissioner of Nagaon, Sub-Divisional Officer in Majuli, and Deputy Commissioner in districts such as Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, and Cachar. Her reputation for a people-first approach and policy-driven governance has been evident throughout her service. She also held significant assignments such as State Project Director of ARIASP and Secretary in departments like Finance and Science & Technology.
Ms. Madduri’s central deputation in March 2025 is seen as a testament to her capabilities and leadership, solidifying her standing as one of the notable administrators of her cadre.
