Himachal Pradesh High Court has granted an Interim Protection to IAS officer Harikesh Meena in Vimal Negi suicide Ccse.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has granted interim relief to IAS officer Harikesh Meena, restraining authorities from taking any coercive action against him until May 2 in connection with the alleged suicide of Vimal Negi, an employee of the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL).
Justice Varinder Singh, who presided over the matter on Wednesday, directed that Meena must not face any coercive measures until the next hearing. The court also ordered his personal appearance and instructed all involved parties to adhere strictly to the interim directions.
Vimal Negi had been reported missing since March 10, and his body was discovered on March 18 in Govind Sagar Lake. In the FIR filed by his family, allegations of workplace harassment were made against Meena and another HPPCL official, Desh Raj, suggesting it may have driven Negi to take his own life.
Meena’s counsel, NS Chandel, confirmed the court’s decision, stating that his client has been granted temporary relief. The case has drawn significant attention due to the serious nature of the accusations. Earlier, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Desh Raj on April 4, effective until July 22.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted a supplementary report to the court. However, details of the report remain confidential at this stage.
