Govt’s proposal on reducing IAS training period

Parijat Tripathi

The Central Government has proposed reduction of training duration for Indian Administrative Service officers from two to one-and-a half years, based on Kiran Aggarwal Committee recommendation.

The move aims to restrict IAS professional course (phase 1 and 2) by 7 weeks, academic instruction by 4 weeks and district training by a whole 21 weeks. The Department of Personnel and Training has sought views from State governments by November 30. If no reply is received, it will be presumed that they have no objections.
