Government Social Welfare Programmes and CSR can Combine to give the People of this Country A Better Future

While addressing delegates at a Seminar, “CSR : Touching Lives and Making An Impact” , held on the sidelines of Vibrant Gujarat, in Gandhinagar today, Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley, briefly recalled the history of social service in the present century. He said that India has a tradition of philanthropy which is part of Indian culture, wherein tribute is always paid to the Daridranarayan. In the past decades, social programmes have been community based. Globally, the concept gained ground in 1953 with wide ranging definitions. Statutorily in India, it has acquired recognition since 2013.
