Mr Sanjeev Sanyal’s removal as GIPE Chancellor has been revoked following a public clarification.

The Servants of India Society (SIS) has officially withdrawn its decision to remove economist Sanjeev Sanyal from his position as Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune. In a letter issued on Saturday, SIS requested Sanyal to continue in his role.

SIS President Damodar Sahoo described the earlier decision as a result of a “misunderstanding” and requested that the removal order be considered “null and void.” He also acknowledged Sanyal’s detailed response to the concerns raised in the initial communication.

The reversal came shortly after Sanyal — a noted economist and current member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council — publicly addressed the matter on social media, offering his perspective on the situation and prompting a swift reassessment by the Society.
