New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday touched a record high of Rs 76.87 per litre and diesel reached to its highest ever level of Rs 68.08, following a rapid rise in the international oil price.
On Tuesday, petrol prices were hiked in the range of 29-32 paise per litre across Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, while diesel prices were lifted by 26-28 paise per litre, compared to the previous day.
The hike in price of petrol and diesel is continuing even after the government promised the consumers that the situation will be resolved.
Earlier on Monday, petrol was retailed at Rs 76.57 per litre in Delhi while diesel retailed at Rs 67.82 per litre, considering which Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the government is keeping a close eye on the increase in the fuel price.
During the Karnataka elections, there were no changes in the price of petrol and diesel for 19 days, while the crude oil prices have continued to climb in the international market. In the last 3 days, the price of crude oil has increased to $ 80 a barrel.
