Former Diplomat who also served as DG, CISF has been appointed as Member, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The appointment of IPS Sheel Vardhan Singh as Member, UPSC has been approved by Government of India. Singh has worked in Intelligence Bureau (IB). He had also served as the Director General, CISF from November 2021 to December 2023.
Tenure for Singh as a member of UPSC will be six years or until the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier. Headed by a chairperson the UPSC can have a maximum of ten members.
Following the appointment of Singh, there exists 3 more vacancies of members to be filled. With a 37 years of distinguished service experience, Singh is a seasoned intelligence expert. He is wellknown for his strategic thinking along with his expertise internal security and global security scenarios.
