As many as five IPS officers of batch 1989 batch have been empanelled for the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent in the Govt of India. The officers are:

- Snjaeev Ranjan Ojha (Himachal Pradesh cadre)
- Amar Kumar Pandey (Karnataka cadre)
- Mukesh Kumar Meena (UT cadre)
- K. Padmakumar (Kerala cadre)
