Nay Pyi Taw: In the course of her two-day visit to Myanmar, External Affairs Minister Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday met Myanmar’s State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi, seven agreements have been signed between the two countries.
There will be dialogue on Rohingya issue in a bilateral meeting between India and Myanmar.
An estimated 7,00,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state since August last year after large-scale violence following a military crackdown.
EAM Sushma Swaraj met the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar armed forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw.
During her visit, EAM Sushma Swaraj is likely to discuss several bilateral and regional issues.
Myanmar is one of India’s strategic neighbours and shares a 1,640 km border with India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Myanmar in September last year.
