Former UP Chief Secretary appears to be set to become Rajya Sabha Member.
Former chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Alok Ranjan is a retired IAS of 1978 batch from UP cadre. The Samajwadi Party has nominated him for the Rajya Sabha from the state.
Sixty seven year old, Alok Ranjan served as the state chief secretary of the state from May 2014 to June 2016 during the tenure of Samajvadi Party government led by chief minister Akhilesh Singh.
Upon retirement, Ranjan appointed Akhilesh Singh’s chief adviser and he was also given the rank of a Cabinet minister. He was on the position until the end of the SP government’s term in the year 2017.
