New Delhi: Breaking his silence over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir and alleged rape of 18-year-old girl in Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his delayed reaction over the incident.
“Modi should follow his own advice to me and speak more often,” The Indian Express quoted Manmohan Singh as saying. In the aftermath of surfacing of several scandals, including 2G scam, BJP law makers would often taunt him as ‘Maun-Mohan Singh.”
The former Prime Minister, while hitting at Prime Minister Modi, said, “I think the Prime Minister should follow his own advice to me and he should speak more often. Through press I know that he used to criticize me for not speaking up.
“I feel that the advice that he used to give me, he should follow it himself,” Manmohan Singh said in an interview with The Indian Express.
But he expressed his happiness that Prime Minister Modi finally spoke about the incidents. He insisted that those in authority must speak up in time, so that people do not think they would get away with any crime.
