The Election Commission has changed Home Secretaries of six states along with the Director General of Police in West Bengal.
The Commission has directed all state governments to transfer those officers associated with election related work who have completed three years or are in their home districts.
Taking a major step towards maintaining the principles of free, fair and transparent elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued orders for removal of Home Secretaries in six states.
These states include Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Along with this, the Election Commission has also given instructions to remove the DGP of West Bengal.
The meeting of the Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Monday afternoon in the presence of Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu.
Apart from this, the Election Commission has also taken necessary action to remove the Director General of Police (DGP) of West Bengal. With these steps taken by the Election Commission, the Election Commission of India has shown its commitment towards conducting free, fair and transparent elections.
