IPS Officer D. Magesh Kumar’s suspension has been now lifted following the ICC clearance.

The Tamil Nadu government has reinstated IPS officer D. Magesh Kumar, lifting his suspension after the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) found no grounds for further action in a harassment case involving a Grade I woman constable.

Kumar, formerly Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic, North Chennai), was suspended in February 2024 under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, while investigations into the allegations were ongoing.

The ICC, in its report, noted that the complainant had sought a conciliatory resolution under Section 10 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013. With the matter settled, the committee recommended no additional proceedings.

Acting on the ICC’s findings, Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal advised revoking the suspension. After an independent review, the Home Department accepted the recommendation.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dheeraj Kumar issued the official order, stating: “The Government has thoroughly assessed the ICC and DGP’s recommendations and decided to accept them. Consequently, the suspension order against Mr. Magesh Kumar stands revoked immediately.”

The decision paves the way for Kumar’s return to duty, concluding a closely monitored administrative and disciplinary process.
